Mental Numbness has infected many IT professionals like a virus. Some very smart people now say and do Dilbert-type things. That's part of the reason why we started this blog. We want to provide a Rebuttal to the politically-motivated, bad recommendations out there.

In corporate IT, "The Street" is now watching and it makes IT professionals act differently.

• Committees are called and projects are started to give the appearance of a strategic direction, but no funding ever comes.
• Policies are created to save face, avoid a mess, cover up a mistake, or pacify an executive.

We work in the IT world, but we live on the business side. We depend on good IT Principles to guide our decisions and opinions.

IT is more political these days. It's more appropriate, more safe. In order to look good, decisions are less risky and less innovative. Common sense has taken a back seat to fancy initiatives and PowerPoint slides.
